Berger Upbeat About 2017 Season

Rockford Speedway racers have had a few weeks of racing to iron out the kinks in their cars. They get back on the track this Saturday night.

In the Late Model Division we at Fox 39 naturally have our eye on the Fox 39 car.  That’s driven by veteran racer Matt Berger of Loves Park. He began racing at the Rockford Speedway in 1997.

Berger is currently third in points in the Late Model  Division. He has a pair of second place finishes and a fourth place finish. He says he likes the way the car is ‘cutting’ or turning and he’s upbeat about the rest of the season.

“The car’s been handling well. We’ve got a lot of optimism. We’ve got a good piece here, so if we can keep it all straightened out and handling like we want we’ll be in good shape.” “It was a brand new car last year. Everything is fresh on it and ready to roll.”

Berger was t he 2010 season champion in the Sportsman Division at the Rockford Speedway. In 2009 he became the first driver at Rockford to win feature races in all four major divisions.
