ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks today have recalled goaltender Kevin Lankinen on an emergency basis from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs and reassigned defenseman Ian McCoshen to Rockford.

Lankinen, 24, is 5-2-1 with a 2.48 GAA and .924 save percentage over eight appearances with the IceHogs this season. He has led Rockford to points in six of his last seven games and has only once allowed more than three goals thus far on the campaign. The netminder enters the week tied for first among qualified goalies in fewest goals allowed (20) and fifth in best save percentage.

The Helsinki, Finland native made his professional debut last season, and after splitting the campaign between the ECHL’s Indy Fuel and Rockford, led his country to a gold medal at the IIHF World Championships over the summer.

McCoshen, 24, has combined for eight assists and 32 penalty minutes over 20 AHL games between Springfield and Rockford this season. The blueliner opened the year with a pair of multi-point efforts for the Thunderbirds before being acquired by Chicago in exchange for forward Aleksi Saarela on Oct. 22. McCoshen then made his Rockford debut on Oct. 25 at Cleveland and has since picked up four assists and 28 PIMs in 13 contests for the IceHogs. The Anaheim, California native was recalled by Chicago on Nov. 29 but did not skate in a game with the Blackhawks.
