Sophie Brunner has only been in the WNBA two months and she has already experiencing what it’s like to be traded.
The Freeport native was dealt Thursday by the Phoenix Mercury to the San Antonio Stars. Shay Murphy and a third round draft pick also go to the Stars in exchange for forward Monique Currie.
Brunner appeared in only three of the Mercury’s 12 games this season. She did not score. She totaled four rebounds. The Mercury at 7-5 are one of the better teams in the WNBA. The Stars on the other hand are struggling at the bottom at 0-14.
This deal might allow Brunner to get more playing time.
Brunner tweeted the following tweet after the deal was made.
