It’s national championship or bust for the Rock Valley College men’s basketball team.
The Golden Eagles will leave late Monday night for the NJCAA Division III National Tournament in Loch Sheldrake, New York. Eight team siwll compete. The Golden Eagles are the number one seed with their 30-3 record.
The Golden Eagles will be making their fourth consecutive trip to nationals. They finished second last year. Two years ago they were national champions. For Jefferson J-Hawk L.T. Davis wason that championship team and he’s back this season.
“It’s the national tournament. We’ve got to be ready to play,” says Davis. “We’ve got to be focused, have the mentality that we will not lose. We’ve got to get to the national championship and also play with heart and pride, and play like Rock Valley like we know how and have fun.”
“Every game we’re going to have to show up,” says head coach Craig Doty. “It’s the national tournament. We feel that with our six third-year guys and with our tough freshmen that we have that we’re going to be able to take care of business.”
RVC’s first opponent will be 25-7 Bunker Hill College of Massachusetts. That game will be played Thursday at 6 p.m. central time.
