Defending champion Miller leads semifinalists at the Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Invitational


Rockford golfer Sean Miller will have a chance to win his third consecutive championship Sunday in the Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club Invitational.

Miller won both of his opening matches Saturday to advance to Sunday’s semifinals. Miller opened with a 1-up victory over John Canova. He then defeated Thomas Brennan 3 & 2.

Also reaching the semifinals were Cody Rhymer, Mike VanSistine and Brian Silvers.

Rhymer won an opening match over Joe Hug 4 & 3. He then defeated Mike Morig 1 up. VanSistine defeated Matt LaMarca 1 up in his opening match. He then defeated Jamie Hogan 4 & 3.

Silvers won matches over Sam Pmothiboupha 5 & 4 and over Garrett Ralston 1 up.

The semifinals will be played Sunday morning. At 9:00 a.m. Miller and Rhymer will tee off.  At 9:10 VanSistine and Silvers will tee off.  The championship match will follow at 1:00 p.m.
