The NASCAR season got underway in dramatic fashion as Denny Hamlin won his second Daytona 500 in four years on Sunday.
Denny Hamlin has endured an emotional month, as has the entire family of Joe Gibbs racing. He wanted to win this race to honor the memory of a man that was more than just a colleague. J.D. Gibbs, co-owner of the team with father, Joe, passed away in January.
Hamlin pledged $111 for every lap he lead this year to the J.D. Gibbs Legacy fund. He led 30 laps on Sunday.
