The Blackhawks playoff roster has some new faces on it this season. They include several players who spent significant time this season in Rockford with the IceHogs.
Ryan Hartman, Tanner Kero, Vince Hinostroza, Nick Schmaltz and Gustave Forsling are all available for duty. Hartman, Kero and Schmaltz are all expected to see significant action. They’ve all been leaning on the veterans for advice about the intensity that Stanley Cup hockey entails.
“I’m really excited,” says Hartman. “It’s kind of got that feeling of that first game of the year where we’ve been off for a bit, and you’re ready to get going again, so there’s a real positive vibe in here and we’re all really excited.”
“I’m super excited knowing how many guys in here have won and had great success in the last decade here,” says Schmaltz. “I know they’ll help us out along the way, and I hope we can contribute as young guys and help this team win.”
Hinostroza isn’t likely to see much action, but even if he doesn’t just being a part of the team will make this a valuable experience for him.
“Obviously I want to play, but just being on the team it’s great, and I want to do whatever i can to get into the lineup,” says Hinostroza.
The Blackhawks will host the Nahsville Predators Thursday night in game one of their first round playoff series.
