Former Rock Valley College coach celebrates NAIA national championship win

Sports

A former Rock Valley College coach and basketball players are celebrating a national championship.

Craig Doty and his Graceland University team won the NAIA National Tournament. Doty spent four years as the head men’s basketball coach at Rock Valley College.

What does this win say about Doty as a coach and his future? He’s going places. Graceland won’t be his last stop.

What Doty did at Rock Valley, winning two championships and finishing second in four seasons, was remarkable. This might top it: in just two seasons, he took Graceland to the top of the NAIA Division One Mountain.

For those of you not familiar with Graceland University, it’s in southern Iowa, straight south of Des Moines. Graceland has never even been to the national tournament before in its history, let alone win it all.
