Forreston Ready For Semifinal Showdown

Forreston’s football team has survived the rugged Northwest Upstate Illini battles in the regular season and the postseason. Now the Cardinals have two more foes sdtanding between them and a state championship.

First up an undefeated Ottawa Marquette team Saturday in the semifinals. The game will be played in Ottawa.

Marquette rallied to beat Aquin last week and force this matchup. The Cardinals ran all over Lena-Winslow last week. There was so much buildup to the Le-Win game, so is coach Denny Diduch concerned that his guysmight have just a bit of an emotional letdown this week?

“It’s a slight concern because the Lena game was such an emotional game, but our practices this week have been crisp,” says Diduch. “The boys know Ottawa Marquette. We played them three years ago and it was an incredibly tought game. It was an overtime game, and It was a game we were favored to win, and so we’re kind of in a similar situation.”

That game will kickoff at 3pm.
