BYRON, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Genoa-Kingston won a grind-it-out game at Byron 14-0 Friday night in Big Northern Conference action.
The Cogs got a one-yard touchdown run from Owen Simmons in the second quarter. Then before just before halftime they scored a second touchdown on a field goal attempt that went awry. The snap from center was high so holder Rhett Kline took the ball, rolled right and fired it into the end zone to a leaping Evan Hagg for a touchdown.
That 14-0 halftime score stood up as the Cogs went on to the 14-0 win. Genoa-Kingston is now 2-0. Byron is 1-1.
