Schilling leads Byron to Sectional swimming/diving championship

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — The Byron Tigers will be well represented at the girls State Swimming and Diving Meet next weekend in New Trier. The Tigers got several big performances Saturday while winning the team championship at the Rockford Jefferson Sectional.

Sophomore Kate Schilling had individual wins for Byron in the 100 butterfly and in the 500 freestyle. She also swam on the Byron’s winning 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.

Byron also got individual wins from freshman Audrey Kilmer in the 200 individual medley and from sophomore Laci Long in the diving.

Boylan finished second as a team. The Titans won the 200 freestyle relay. They also got an individual win from junior Nhia Caras in the 50 freestyle.

The other standout performer in the meet was Rockford Auburn junior Ali Cushing. She won the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. She set a Sectional meet record in the 200 freestyle. Lydia Prztulski of Auburn chipped in with a victory in the 100 breaststroke.

Hononegah freshman Gracie Colvin won the 100 backstroke.
