Hogs Get Veteran Goalie MacIntyre


The Chicago Blackhawks announced today they have acquired goaltender Drew MacIntyre from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for defenseman Dennis Robertson. MacIntyre will report to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

MacIntyre, 32, has posted an 11-13-1 record, 3.09 goals-against average and .890 save percentage in 28 games with the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers this season. The Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, native has collected a 223-156-6 mark and 16 shutouts in 432 career AHL games across 12 seasons with Grand Rapids (2004-06), Manitoba (2006-08), Milwaukee (2008-09), Chicago (2009-11), Hamilton (2010-11), Rochester (2011-12), Toronto (2012-14) and Charlotte (2014-16). His 223 career AHL wins are eighth all-time, placing him four wins ahead of Rockford goaltender Michael Leighton. MacIntyre is just three wins shy of tying Gord Henry for seventh in league history (226 wins). MacIntyre has also registered a 42-30 record in 76 career Calder Cup Playoffs games, and was selected by Detroit in the fourth round (121st overall) of the 2001 NHL Draft.

Robertson, 24, has posted five points (2G, 3A) in 37 games with the Rockford IceHogs this season.
