Hononegah Making Due Without Bubble

Sports

The demise of the ‘bubble’ at Hononegah has the basketball teams turning to the school’s auxiliary gymnasium for relief.

The auxilary gymnasium is upstairs above the main gymnasium. That’s where the varisity boys team practiced Monday after school while the girls varsity team practiced on the main gymnasium court.

Boys coach Mike Miller says they’re making the best of the situation.

“Obviously it’s not a perfect scenario,” says Miller. “We’ve got tight spaces right now and our facilities are less than ideal, but some of the stuff we talk to our kids about overcoming adversity and different challenges this gives us a chance to do it on a daily basis.”

The ‘bubble’ collapsed under the weight of an ice storm last month. Hononegah’s Martin Luther King Tournament will go on this weekend.
