IceHogs’ Hayden Handling Demotion Well

The IceHogs have made it through the California portion of their six-game road trip. Monday they stopped at the BMO for practice before heading back out on the road for three more games in the Midwest.

Adam Clendening was not at practice. He was back in Phoenix finishing up some personal business following his trade to the Blackhawks from the Coyotes.

Two other newcomers were at practice Monday Cody Franson and John Hayden. Both of them were assigned to the IceHogs late last week.

Hayden, a rookie, is handling the demotion well.

“I was learning a lot up there” (in Chicago), said Hayden Monday after practice. “Great linemates. There were a lot of good things throughout the first half of the season, but coming here is a great opportunity for me to play more really and further develop my game.”

Hayden’s playing time was limited with the Blackhawks. In 39 games with them this season he scored three goals and he had eight assists.
