The IceHogs hit the lanes on Saturday for their 8th Annual Bowl-A-Thon at the Cherry Bowl.
Players and coaches bowled with fans to raise money for the team’s charitable foundation. Proceed’s also went to HD Rooted Hope Inc. a foundation that assists families dealing with Huntington’s Disease.
The foundation was founded by IceHogs captain Jake Dowell, and his mother. Dowell lost his father to the disease, and his older brother Luke is currently battling it himself.
“For my teammates to come out on a day off, on Saturday, and then for obviously the community to show their support and show up and fill these lanes it’s pretty fun.,” says Dowell.
Dowell found out just last year that he does not carry the hereditary disease.
