The Rockford IceHogs were making more roster moves Thursday. One had them re-signing Roscoe native Josh McArdle.
McArdle gets a one-year contract. Last season was his first as a pro. He appeared in 33 games for the ECHL’s Indy Fuel and 19 games with the IceHogs. For the IceHogs he had his first career AHL goal and a pair of assists. He made it clear at the end of the season that he wanted to return.
“I loved it here. I’d love to be back here,” he said following his exit interview April 16. “Overall it was a great year. Getting a lot of firsts. Getting to play in my hometown as a first-year pro. I’ve enjoyed it. I’m looking for more of it to come soon.”
The IceHogs also re-signed defenseman Dmitry Osipov to a one-year AHL contract. He appeared in eight games with the IceHogs last season. He had two assists. Osipov playd 66 games with the Indy Fuel. He ws named the Fuel’s Defenseman of the Year.
Forward Victor Ejdsell won’t be returning to the IceHogs. He has agreed to a two-year contract to play in Sweden. Ejdsell was a key factor in the IceHogs’ deep playoff run in 2018. He tallied 12 points in 13 playoff games and he had four game-winning goals. He was unable to match that production this past season when he accounted for only 29 points in 61 games.
