Jamie Hogan has accomplished what no other local golfer has in Rockford history.
Hogan won his record ninth Greater Rockford Men’s Classic championship on Sunday. Hogan came into the final round down two-strokes to two-time reigning champion Kyle Slattery.
The round was tight throughout with both Hogan, and Slattery trading birdies. But things went sideways for Slattery in the back nine. He triple-bogeyed fifteen to lose his lead, then Slattery’s tee shot on eighteen landed in a water hazard. All Hogan had to do was par 18 for the win.
It’s Hogan’s first city title since 2011.
