Boylan kicker Justin Knauf was Mr. Automatic for the Titans. Now he hopes to carry that over to NIU.
Knauf held a ceremonial letter of intent signing with NIU Thursday at Boylan. He was joined by dozens of his classmates, teammates and friends in the school’s cafeteria.
Knauf is capable of kicking and punting. NIU coach Rod Carey said Wednesday that Knauf will likely redshirt his first year. Knauf plans to be ready from day one when he steps on campus.
“They said I’m going to go in as a freshman. I’m going to kick-off and punt, and if I do take the back door, the back seat then I will red-shirt and then I’ll have three years to kick and four years to punt. Boylan has been known for it’s kickers and punters, and I hope that I can be the next one.”
