The Cubs received a huge blow to their offense early in their 2016 campaign. Outfielder Kyle Schwarber is out for the entire 2016 season with a full torn ACL and LCL in his left knee.
Schwarber suffered the injury during Thursday night’s game against the Diamondbacks when Schwarber and Dexter Fowler collided in the outfield chasing a Jean Segura base hit into the gap in left center.
Initial X-Rays on Schwarber’s ankle came back negative, but the team was more concerned with the condition of his knee. On Thursday an MRI on his knee revealed the terrible news.
The injury will insert Jorge Solar as the full-time starter in left field. Munenori Kawasaki will take Schwarber’s spot on the roster.
