The Rivets got major contributions Thursday afternoon from two Stateline natives in a 10-9 win over the Kenosha Kingfish.
Stillman Valley graduate Andrew Wilhite had three hits including a triple. He also walked twice. He drove in three runs and he scored four runs. He was also hit by a pitch. His batting average has climbed to .256.
Forreston graduate Nathan Schneiderman came out of the bullpen in the sixth inning. He worked 2 2/3 innings scoreless innings. He gave up one hit and he struck out four batters. Schneiderman lowered his ERA to 1.05.
The other hero for the Rivets was Matt Higgins. His RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning drove home the winning run.
It was a wild ninth inning. The Kingfish scored five times in the top of the frame to take a 9-8 lead. The Rivets then answered in the bottom half of the inning with two runs.
The Rivets hit the road Friday and Saturday for games in Green Bay against the Booyah. They’ll be back home Sunday and Monday for games against the Kalamazoo Growlers.
