Opening night of the high school football season is always electric. It’ll be moreso this year with several blockbuster opening night matchups in the Rockford area. The IHSA released the complete schedule for all teams in the state Wednesday afternoon.
Leading the way is the Hononegah at Harlem matchup. Hononegah has run the table in the NIC-10 the last two seasons and despite the fact that the Indians graduated some amazing talent, they’ll be strong again.
Harlem might have the most explosive team in the Rockford area with returning quarterback James Couper, receiver/kick returner Jalon Benson, receiver Brandt Hixson and tight end Dominic McCarren all back.
