Northern Illinois University center Luke Shively has been named to the Rimington Trophy Fall Watch List as one of 70 top centers in collegiate football on Tuesday.

The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding NCAA Division I-A college football center. The award is based on three All-America teams including the Walter Camp Foundation, Sporting News and Football Writers Association of America. The winner is determined by the most first-team votes and will be announced at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Neb. on Saturday, January 13, 2018.

Shively started his first game as the Huskies’ center during the 2016 season at Wyoming (Sept. 3) as a key member of the offensive line. During the 2016 season, Shively started all 12 games and was a part of the squad ranked first in the country for fewest sacks allowed with only eight sacks recorded against NIU for the season.

Northern Illinois University senior tight end Shane Wimann (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells) became one of the first NIU football players to be named to a preseason college football watch list Tuesday as the senior was named to the 2017 John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List announced by the selection committee.

During a stellar three-year career to date, Wimann has proven himself as one of the top tight ends in Huskie history. During the 2016 season, Wimann tied the school record for most touchdowns in a single season by a tight end with six, matching Matt Dunker’s 2002 total. He also became NIU’s career leader in touchdown catches by a tight end with 10 total touchdowns, surpassing Dunker’s nine.
