The Rockford Rivets are in the win column. They knocked off the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 5-3 Wednesday night in Loves Park.

That was actually the second game of the day and of the season. Before that game the Rivets and Rafters completed their suspended game from Tuesday night.  The Rafters won that game 2-0.

In the second game the Rivets rode the strong arm of Fighting Illini pitcher Jimmy Burnette to the win. have allowed only two hits and he did not give up an earned run in five innings of work. The Rafters did score two unearned runs with the aid of three Rivets errors. Hunter Keim followed up with two innings of relief for the save.

First baseman Milik Williams who plays collegiately for Lipscomb uncorked a two-run homerun to lead the Rivets offensive attack. Tom Josten had a pair of hits for the Rivets.
