The Rockford Rivets collected 10 hits for the third straight game on Monday, as they beat Battle Creek, 4-3, at Rivets Stadium.
The Rivets scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth after the Bombers had rallied from a three-deficit. Rockford leadoff hitter Cade Bunnell, who was 2-for-5, doubled home the eventual game-winner.
Rockford built an early 3-0 lead. In the second inning, David Cronin singled in a run. In the third, Jacob Vander Wal hit a solo homer and the Rivets added an unearned run later in the inning.
Battle Creek rallied for a run in the fourth inning and tied the game with two unearned runs in the fifth.
Joe Romero (1-0) pitched 1 1/3 innings of hitless relief for the win.
Max Ritchie (0-4) took the loss in a three-inning relief appearance. In the eighth, Gavin Johnson singled with one out. With two outs, Bunnell doubled to left to drive in Johnson.
The Rivets and Bombers face off again at Rivets Stadium 6:35 p.m. Tuesday.
