Rock Valley College Softball clinches another trip to Nationals

Rock Valley College will be making it’s annual trip to Rochester, Minnesota again for the NJCAA D-III Nationals. The Golden Eagles won their District Championship Friday night.

They swept two games in a best-of-three series against Schoolcraft College of Livonia, Michigan. The Golden Eagles won the first game 3-1 behind the pitching of Stillman Valley graduate Breanna Crown. They won the second game behind the pitching of Cadyn Ehrenberg and some dynamic hitting.

Harlem graduate Megen Johnson slugged a three-run homerun in that second game. Stillman Valley graduate Courtney Fernette also launched one over the fence.

“It feels so amazing!,’ said Ehrenberg after clinching the District Title. “I cannot even describe the feeling to you guys right now.” “We played solid defense and we hit offensively very well. It took us a little bit to get going but we definitely picked it up in the end.”

“It feels really good (going back to Nationals) because knowing that we went the whole year with Monroe always pushing us to do better and our teammates were always pushing us and then finally coming out on top it was really nice,” said Johnson.

Rock Valley College will go after it’s sixth consecutive national championship next week.
