Rock Valley softball wins fifth straight National Championship

The dynasty continues on North Mulford Road. For the fifth consecutive season the Rock Valley College softball team are NJCAA DIII National Champions. The Golden Eagles defeated Herkimer County Community College 6-2 in the final.

Rock Valley trailed 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning. Courtney Fernette was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in tying run. Then after a pitching change from Herkimer RVC’s Candace Kipp knocked a 2-run single to left. A throwing error to home plate scored Fernette to make it 5-2 Golden Eagles. Lexi Morrison capped-off a 5-run fifth inning with an rbi single of her own to make it 6-2.

Breanna Crown got the win in the circle. Crown gave up two runs in four innings of work. Jordan Hall closed the game out throwing three scoreless innings to clinch the championship.

The Golden Eagles dropped the first game between the two teams earlier in the afternoon 2-1 forcing a winner take all final.
