The Rockford Lutheran volleyball team is headed to state for the first time in its program history. They swept Timothy Christian 25-22, 25-23 to become class 2A super-sectional champions on Friday.
“There’s not a whole lot of words to describe it but I’m just really happy and excited for the kids and the school,” Lutheran’s Head Coach Jordan Haverly said. “I’m just so proud of everything that they’ve done.”
The Crusaders were down by as many as seven points in the second set. They rallied and clawed their way back, thanks to a young core group who believes they can make it all the way.
“I think we can win state,” freshman Kayla Spangler said. “We can fight everyone off ’cause we have the heart to do it. We’re just girls on the court who won’t give up after anything.”
