Rockford native Chad Knaus will remain with Hendrick Motorsports for at least two more years.

According to ESPN.com’s Bob Pockrass Knaus has agreed to a contract extension through 2020. Knaus had been in the final year of his old deal with Hendrick.

Knaus’ new deal coincides with Jimmie Johnson’s contract with Hendrick through 2020. The two men have teamed up to win seven Cup Championships in NASCAR with Knaus overseeing the operations of the 48 team as the crew chief and Johnson using his skills behind the wheel.

“We’ve signed for two more years. That lines me up with Jimmie’s contract,” Knaus told ESPN. “It’s nice to be in that same space as him. Beyond that, you just don’t know.”

What’s undetermined is who will be the primary sponsor of the 48 team next year since Lowe’s is ending it’s sponsorship.
