The Regents take down MacMurry College 35-12 in their season opener Saturday.
Rockford’s Eric Mackey went 13-23 for 188 yards and 1 touchdown. Mackey also carried the ball 10 times for 34 yards and 1 score. LaVar Johnson Jr. ran the ball 17 times for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kalan Miller led Rockford with 3 receptions for 80 yards. Jallen Bashford had a team-high 11 tackles and recovered a fumble. Octavio Galvez tallied 8 tackles including a tackle for loss. Jared Johnson had 7 tackles with 2 sacks and a forced fumble. Austin Carlson and Edel Morales each had an interception.
The RU football team returns to action at home next Saturday, September 8 against Martin Luther. Kickoff is set for 1 PM at Sam Greeley Field.
