Rockford University drops its home opener to Wisconsin Lutheran


ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Rockford University waited over a month into the football season to play it’s home opener. It finally came Saturday for the Regents, but they lost to Wisconsin Lutheran 27-13.

The Regents couldn’t develop any rhythm offensively. They were plagued by 14 penalties totaling 176 yards. Quarterback Tylrer Burnham did pass for 170 yards and one touchdown. Running back LaVar Johnson rushed for 113 yards and one touchdown on 28 carries.

Kalan Miller had five receptions…one for a touchdown. On defense Jallen Bashford had 14 tackles.

This game was also the first home game for J.T. Zimmerman as the Regents’ head coach.
