After batting .429 in the first two games of the World Series outfielder Kyle Schwarber will not start in games 3, 4, or 5 for the Cubs.
Cubs President Theo Epstein said the Doctors were not able to clear Schwarber to play in the outfield. Doctors fear the risk is too great in allowing Schwarber to play in the outfield because of the strain it would put on his knee.
Schwarber is still recovering from a torn ACL, and playing the first two games in Cleveland allowed him to be the club’s designated hitter. Since the series has moved to the Chicago the designated hitter position no longer exists.
The Cubs will try to use Schwarber in pinch-hitting situations.
