Christian Life has hired Bill Shepard to be the school’s new head varsity football coach. Shepard has more than 30 years of coaching experience.
He has been the head coach at Oregon, Pinckeyville and Rockford Christian schools. The past ten years he has been an assistant coach at Durand and at Pecatonica. He has also been an assistant coach at Rockford University and at North Park University.
“The future of Christian Life football looks very strong under the leadership of Bill Shepard,” said Christian Life Athletic Director Justin Sheley in a press release. “Shepard’s experience and knowledge in football in combination with his dedication to Christian education will ensure the continuation of a successful football program that prepares its athletes for life.”
Christian Life went 5-5 last season and made the IHSA playoffs. Two years ago the Eagles went 9-0 during the regular season and they earned their first playoff victory in school history. That was under former head coach Tony Ambrogio. Ambrogio resigned recently to accept an assistant football coaching position at Rockford Jefferson.
Shepard will begin at Christian Life on July 7th when he will meet with all Christian Life athletes and their parents.
