Kyle Slattery is off to a solid start in the Men’s State Amateur Golf Tournament. He shot a 2 under par 70 Tuesday at the St. Charles Country Club.
Slattery’s score ties him for 16th place, but well off the pace of first round leader Brian Ohr of Northbrook. He shot a 9 under par 63.
Two other Rockford men are also in the field. Danny Gorman is tied for 24th after shooting a 71. Elliot Horst is tied for 93rd after shooting a 77.
They’ll play 18 more holes Wednesday. The field will then be cut to the top 36 players and ties. Those plays will play 36 holes on Thursday to decide the championship.
