Slattery Advances At U.S. Open Qualifier

Kyle Slattery has had a lot of good things happen to him on the golf course in the span of 48 hours.

First he won the Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Match Play tournament. Then Monday he advanced out of a U.S. Open local qualifier. He finished in the top five in an event in Highland Park by shooting a 73 at the Exmoor Country Club.

90 players were entered in the event.

Slattery advances to a Sectional Qualifier for the U.S. Open in Ohio on June 6. If things fall his way there he’ll be off to the U.S. Open June 13-19 at the Oakmont Country Club near Pittsburgh.

Slattery is the reigning Rockford Men’s City Champion. He just completed his freshman year at Southern Ilinois-Edwardsville.
