The Puma Challenge soccer tournament in Rockford was more challenging than every anticipated. Cold temperatures, wind and even snow flurries plagued the event Saturday.
Still the event went on with more than 200 youth boys and girls teams taking the fields at Sportscore One and Sportscore Two.
“It’s a crazy time especially because of the unpredictablility of the weather, and today’s a perfect example of that,” says tournament director Frank Mateus. “But I think overall it’s a great time of the year where teams within a five hour radius really enjoy coming in to town for this week and next week.”
