Softball team beats the weather by playing at the Rockford Park District’s ISC

While most Stateline spring sports teams continue to see their games get postponed by the frigid weather another team found a way around that Thursday.

The Beloit College women’s softball team contacted the Rockford Park District to see if it could play at doubleheader against UW-Platteville at the newly enlarged Indoor Sports Center at  MercyHealth Sportscore2 in Loves Park. The Park District gave its approval and the games went on.

This is the first time softball games have been played in the facility which has hosted soccer matches, football games and golf academies.

The 70 foot high roof was plenty high enough for fly balls and pop ups. The turf field worked out well. The center is 420 feet long and 300 feet wide.

The way this spring is going weatherwise playing ball indoors is the way to go.
