The Rockford Rivets will send three players to the 2016 Northwoods League All-Star game on June 19 at historic Simmons Field in Kenosha, the league office announced Friday. Arkansas pitchers Anthony Dahl and Kacey Murphy will be joined by Rivets second baseman David Cronin on the south roster to face the best of the north division.
Cronin has had a stellar season for the Rivets. In thirty-four games, thirty-two of which have been starts, the sophomore from the University of Illinois-Chicago has hit a club best .326 with seven doubles, a home run, and sixteen runs batted in, while also stealing a team high thirteen bases.
He will be joined by the fantastic bullpen duo of left-hander Kacey Murphy and right-hander Anthony Dahl. Murphy is 2-0 with a 1.16 earned run average and twenty-five strikeouts in twenty-three and one-third innings this season. Dahl has also gone 2-0 with a 1.45 earned run average while striking out thirty-seven in thirty-one innings, including one start, this season.
The All-Star festivities begin with the Home Run Derby at the Harbor on Monday, June 18 before the game itself at 7:05 on Tuesday night, July 19.
