With All-Star Kawhi Leonard sitting out with knee soreness, the Toronto Raptors needed other players to step up Thursday night in Atlanta. Fred VanVleet did just that.
The Rockford native scored a career-high 30 points. He made 11 of 22 shots from the field. He also added six assists and five rebounds. The Raptors beat the Hawks 119-101.
VanVleet’s previous career high was 25 points in a game last January against the Lakers. What made VanVleet’s performance even more remarkable was that he had only one turnover in 37 minutes of action. He finished the night with a plus/minus rating of +32 which means when he was on the court the Raptors outscored the Hawks by 32 points.
Pascal Siakam also scored a career-high 33 points for the Raptors.
