The White Sox announced on Saturday afternoon that reliever Danny Farquhar suffered a brain hemorrhage as a result of a ruptured aneurysm during Friday night’s 10-0 loss to the Astros, and that he is in stable but in critical condition in the neurosurgical ICU unit at RUSH University Medical Center.

Farquhar, who fainted in the dugout during the sixth inning on Friday, continues to receive treatment and close monitoring by Dr. Demetrius Lopez and the neurosurgical team, the White Sox announced. Farquhar was attended to immediately by White Sox medical personnel and EMTs, and he regained consciousness by the time he left the ballpark with the EMTs.

Chicago has placed Farquhar on the 10-day disabled list and recalled pitcher Gregory Infante from Class AAA Charlotte.
