Winnebago and Forreston started their basketball game remembering former Cardinals basketball player Drew Crase who lost his life in a car accident last month.
Players from Forreston wore warm-up shirts with Crase’s name and number on them. Then during the opening tip-off both teams agreed to allow Forreston to win the tip. The ball was then passed to a spot on the floor where Crase would have been. The ball bounced out of bounds and then the crowd stood and applauded.
Winnebago went on to defeat Forreston 56-22.
