Woollacott To Fill Key Role Off NIU’s Bench

Sports

Abby Woollacott was an excellent basketball player at Lutheran High School. Now she’s out to repeat that at NIU.

Woollacott is entering her sophomore season with the Huskies. She played 6.5 minutes per game as a freshman. At 6’2″ she gives NIU some size on a roster that doesn’t have much size.

“I think my role is definitely going to be being a good teammate and going in and giving solid minutes off the bench,” says Woollacott. “Getting good rebounds, playing solid defense. Stuff like that, and just being a loud voice, and giving a lot of encouragement to the team.”

The NIU women will host an exhibition game against Benedictine Saturday at 1 p.m. The Hukies will open their season at Eastern Illinois on November 10th.
