One person was hospitalized in critical condition on Tuesday after being hit by a car in Rockford.

Mercyhealth has given out 6 scholarships to help those pursuing a career in Emergency Medical Services. The scholarship will help pay for paramedic and EMT courses in full.

Once signed up, kids can get a new book every month from birth until their fifth birthday.

Milestone Incorporated received a $10,000 grant from the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation. The funding will allow Milestone to support its dental clinic for children with developmental disabilities.

The 'Chocoholic Frolic' fundraiser takes place in February and supports The Arc's mission to help those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Months of collaboration between Habitat for Humanity and Boylan junior and senior art students resulted in 25 pieces that all focus on the important message of affordable housing.

Investigators believe the offending vehicle to be a 2014 to 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle reportedly sustained significant front-end damage to the grill, hood and windshield.

The City of Rockford approved the 2024 budget at City Council. Standing out on the budget plans is the no increase in the property tax levy. Officials say this continues to reduce the property tax burden.
