Showers and embedded thunderstorms will increase from the west Sunday evening as a cold front moves into southern Wisconsin.
Temperatures Sunday afternoon warmed into the low 70s area wide before skies turned mostly cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms have been moving across northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin Sunday afternoon and evening, with a few severe thunderstorm warnings in Iowa and Wisconsin.
These have been developing ahead of a cold front that will move into southern Wisconsin late Sunday night and northern Illinois Monday afternoon. Showers with embedded thunderstorms will increase in coverage from the west from between now and 11pm, likely impacting Rockford and surrounding areas between 8pm and 11pm. Severe weather is not expected but a few of the stronger storms could have gusty winds. Heavy downpours and frequent lightning can be expected.
Any shower and thunderstorm activity will remain isolated overnight, into Monday morning.
