The rain from the weekend may be done, but the impacts from over 8 inches of rainfall this month may not be fully realized for at least the next couple of days. Flood Warnings and Flood Advisories are currently in place for the Rock, Pecatonica and Kishwaukee Rivers.
River levels are expected to rise through Monday and Tuesday, pushing some points along the Pecatonica River near moderate flood stage. Both at Freeport and Shirland the Pecatonica is already in minor flood stage. Points along both the Rock and Kishwaukee Rivers remain below, or near, action flood stage but just like the Pecatonica, are expected to rise.
Those who live along the river should pay attention to the forecast. While major flooding isn’t expected, low lying areas along the banks could fill with water once again.
