In just a week’s time, we should end up much closer to where we should be time for this time of the year. Last Monday, we had a high temperature of 10° with an overnight low of -4°. Fast-forward a week to today, and we should see highs warming into the mid-upper 30s. That’s nearly 30 degrees warmer than just a week ago.
Temperatures this morning are starting off your Monday morning in the low-mid 20s, and even a few upper 20s. We should see temperatures warm though the 20s and into the mid-upper 30s this afternoon.
Compared to this time yesterday, we are five to over ten degrees colder across the Stateline. However, similar to yesterday we should top out in the mid-upper 30s. Yesterday’s high in Rockford was 36°.
The warmth is thanks to a ridge of warmth that we should be right at the peak of. We have a chance to come close to the 60s Thursday with 70s coming close to the southern part of the state.
This is an early peak at spring like weather because we still have nine days until Spring officially beings. March 20, 2019 at 4:58pm marks the official start to Spring with the Spring Equinox.
Satellite and radar shows partly to mostly cloudy skies across the Stateline this morning. Much of the light snow showing up over northwestern portions of the area isn’t making it’s way to the ground.
Much of that light snow isn’t making it’s way to the ground thanks in part to dry air and high pressure just off to our west.
That area of high pressure will also help to keep skies mainly clear as we go throughout the overnight hours tonight.
It will be a little breezy during the first half of today, with wind gusts around 20mph. As the high pressure slides in, winds will remain on the calm side tonight.
With the clear skies and calm winds combined tonight, heat will be released back into the atmosphere. As a result, we will see chilly conditions. Lows tonight should bottom out in the upper teens to lower 20s.
After some rain this past weekend, we’ll bring in another chance for rain late tomorrow (Tuesday) and into Wednesday). Clouds will increase turning mostly cloudy during the late afternoon and early evening hours. We should remain dry until we get closer to the 6 and 7 o’clock hours.
Overnight Tuesday showers and a few thunderstorms will slide though the Stateline. Some of the rain will be heavy at times.
The chance for rain will continue into your Wednesday and even into Thursday with highs in the mid to upper 50s.
